Exposition

جین چارلس کا جزیرہ is a devastating documentary showing the effects that rising sea levels and hurricanes have had on a coastal community. In this 8-minute short, we are shown around Isle de Jean Charles, an island off the coast of Southern Louisiana.

ایمینوئل وان لی کی ہدایت کاری میں, جین چارلس کا جزیرہ gives viewers a look into how drastically the island has changed since the 1970’s. When Isle de Jean Charles resident, Edison Dardar, grew up on the island, there were around 300 homes. Today there are only 20 homes left on the island. It was eye-opening to hear from two Isle de Jean Charles residents about the changes that occur on the island every time a hurricane passes through. They explain that each time they must evacuate. After the storm, many residents cannot return to the island because their homes have been demolished.

فلم کے آخر میں, we learn that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has analyzed the island but there are no plans to build a levee system. Without a levee system, the island is in danger of falling into the sea. I recommend this film to everyone to better understand the lives of others living in situations such as this one.

I rate this short documentary 4 سے باہر 5 ستارے.
