They Turn Rocks Into Climate Solutions: Super Soil, created by Kathryn Wille, follows the progress made by Mati Carbon, an organization dedicated to climate action.
Founded by entrepreneur Shantanu Agarwal, Mati Carbon has been working on a literally groundbreaking project: using finely crushed basalt, a volcanic rock, on farmland. Through a process known as enhanced rock weathering, the basalt helps remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while improving soil health and supporting better harvests.
This practice has already been used in countries including India, Tanzania, and Zambia.
It’s a fascinating look into the future of farming. It benefits local farmers while also helping in the fight against climate change.
