Created as a way to process the grief of losing a family member, Daniel Gomez Sancho’s Eternal Illusion features a mesmerizing 3D zoetrope brought to life using a combination of traditional animation, digital sculpting, and 3D printing technology.
As the zoetrope spins, a young boy is shown in repeating motion—reaching for the sky, crouching in fear, and reaching again. The surrounding garden mirrors this cycle with blooming and decay.
Through these images and his chosen medium, Sancho illustrates the core theme: the cyclical nature of life and grief.
The film delivers a powerful message—everything lost blooms anew, giving life its shape and meaning.
