Not East, Not West: Chinese Music In Modern Times, presented by the US-China Music Institute and the Bard College Conservatory of Music features performers Frank Corliss, Li Lingchen, Han Mei, Chu Yue, and Du Zhusong. This project thoughtfully curates a compelling musical dialogue between traditional Chinese forms and contemporary expression.
The performances are technically strong and immersive, reflecting the academic origins of the music, while remaining accessible to a broader audience.
The diversity of instruments and performers enriches the listening experience. Overall, it is a refined and culturally significant exploration of Chinese music in a modern context.
