Taking Flight, directed by Will Chehab, is a short documentary set in Panajachel, Guatemala, that shows how one woman’s vision can change a community. The film follows Ingrid Villaseñor, a Maya leader who creates a school where children from low-income families can learn, eat, and feel supported. It becomes a place where parents can bring their kids to grow—full of hope, care, and possibilities for the future.
With thoughtful storytelling and visuals, the film highlights how education, meals, and community programs can give children a stronger start in life. Produced by Abby Pflueger, with cinematography by Lauren Higgins and editing by Brenda Peña and Will Chehab, Taking Flight is full of inspiration for anyone who wants to make their community better through education and kindness.
