Como seria? is a film from Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee about what it would take from civilization to advance the world towards its highest potential. We live in a world where a majority of the population only look after themselves. E se começássemos a nos ver não apenas como indivíduos, mas como uma unidade coletiva? E se começássemos a fazer escolhas que não fossem do nosso próprio interesse e começássemos a considerar o que beneficia o bem maior?? O filme aborda muitas dessas questões, reunindo depoimentos de atores, freiras, ativistas, e líderes espirituais, bem como pessoas de muitas outras esferas da vida.
O filme inclui muitas citações e filosofias excelentes dos assuntos do filme, costurado com B-roll que é um sucesso para mim. Although there is plenty of great imagery in the film, sometimes what’s on screen just doesn’t necessarily match what’s being talked about. The film clocks in at just under 30 atas, which seems a bit too long for the content being presented. I think condensing the film by about 10 minutes would help increase the emotion elicited by the B-roll that does work.
One aspect of the B-roll I found really engaging was the use of juxtaposition. A great example of this is at the beginning, quando o filme abre sobre as várias inclusões da natureza. Ele corta desde as belas fotos da vida selvagem, como vacas pastando em prados, até carne sendo processada pesadamente em uma esteira rolante, algo que eu descreveria como exatamente o oposto da beleza na natureza. Esta é uma excelente maneira de provocar pensamento e emoção sem depender do diálogo.
Pessoalmente, acho que esta peça é um ótimo ponto de partida para as pessoas começarem a mudar seu processo de pensamento sobre o tópico em questão.. There’s definitely some work that can be done to improve the B-roll and runtime, but that being said, you can still take away the filmmaker’s overall message.
I would personally give this film 3/5 estrelas.
