In What is the Role of COP27’s Youth Envoy?, Keana Whisby touches on the impact of ongoing climate change as well as the fast approaching COP27. We are introduced to Omnia El Omrani, the official COP27 Youth Envoy for the UN Climate Change Parties, who serves under President designate H.E. Sameh Shoukry and whose mission is to continue to motivate young people to take action in the fight against global warming.
This short film presents us with Omrani’s educational and advocacy background and what inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. Additionally we learn about her ethical obligation to address the single greatest global health emergency of the twenty-first century that led her to become a climate activist. Whisby emphasizes the overall significance of youth as a factor in the success of the global climate movement to date.
The short does a good job at achieving its educational purpose. However, I think a voiceover rather than subtitles and music would have given this a more personalized feel.
I give this short film a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
