Supporting Long Term Change to Save Our Homes from Global Warming

By Jake Mascolo

Working with Nature to Fight Climate Change is a short film by Drew Berger that discusses the actions that must be taken to deal with the ongoing harm to our forests and ecosystems. Throughout the video, Berger discusses ways to combat climate change, with one of the most important being taking care of and restoring nature. Along with other measures such as reducing our environmental footprint, prioritizing protection, and making the necessary investments.

Berger informs us about our forests and ecosystems, such as how, in addition to absorbing carbon dioxide, forests and other ecosystems protect us from a variety of natural disasters such as drought, wildfires, heatwaves, coastal flooding, landslides, and sandstorms. According to scientists and economists, it is more important to try to protect and preserve forests rather than restore them.

The short film serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting long-term change. To save our homes, we must all work together. The message is clear: if we take care of nature, it will take care of us. However, in my opinion, this film would have had a greater impact if narration had been included along with more fitting music.  The video only uses background music and captions, and the music used is a bit distracting.

I rate this short film 3.5 out of 5 stars.
