The Handel Aria Project: Making Music That Matters

 By Rhea Mursalin

The Handel Aria Project is one that encapsulates the musical stylings of George Frideric Handel and showcases highly talented performers from the Bard Baroque Ensemble and Graduate Vocal Arts Program at Bard Conservatory. Utilizing wide shot angles and quick cuts to several performers throughout the almost two hour concert, the pieces are shown in an aesthetically pleasing and uniquely simple perspective.

The classical arrangement and showcasing of 14 vocalists allows for each artist to have their moment in the sun and for viewers to consume the mesmerizing sounds without distraction.

I found this project to be very well done and quite moving, as is necessary when the subject of classical music, or any music is concerned. The Bard College Conservatory of Music delivers on all accounts as they undoubtedly possess the ability to transport those listening to somewhere else through the fascinating sounds emitted from both tangible instrument and voice.

I would give this film 5 out of 5 stars.
