Solving Global Hunger at Its Roots, produced by Olivia Vogt for Planet Classroom’s Problem Solver series, examines the scale and urgency of the global hunger crisis affecting more than 800 million people worldwide. The film highlights how hunger—driven by climate change, conflict, and economic instability—remains one of the leading threats to children under five, where malnutrition is the deadliest risk.
Vogt’s short documentary centers on the work of Action Against Hunger, a humanitarian organization operating in over 50 countries since 1979. Through its four core pillars—nutrition and health, clean water and hygiene, food security, and rapid emergency response—the organization addresses both immediate needs and long-term solutions.
By combining data-driven insight with human stories, the film presents hunger not as an inevitable tragedy, but as a solvable global challenge rooted in systems that can be changed.
